Jesus Christ told his disciples that in the last days the sun was going be darkened, and that the moon would not give its light, that the stars were going to fall from the sky, and that the heavenly bodies were going to be shaken. (Mt 24:29) Although, many scientist and people in general believe that these words of Jesus were provably referring to some galactic catastrophe, where a meteor will hit planet earth, or perhaps the sun will over heat the earth creating massive earthquakes and tsunamis, there is also a strong possibility that Jesus was referring to the simple process of entering eternity.
According to the bible, “God gave Salomon wisdom and very great insight, and a breadth of understanding as measureless as the sand on the seashore.”(1ki 4:29) This is what Solomon wrote in the book of Ecclesiastes to describe the process of death:
“Remember your Creator in the days of your youth, before the days of trouble come and the years approach when you will say, “‘I find no pleasure in them”‘ before the sun and the light and the moon and the stars grow dark, and clouds return after the rain; when the keepers of the house tremble, and the strong men stoop, when the grinders cease because they are few, and those looking through the windows grow dim; when the doors to the street are closed and the sound of grinding fades; when men rise up at the sound of birds, but all their songs grow faint; when men are afraid of heights and of dangers in the streets; when the almond tree blossoms and the grasshopper drags himself along and desire no longer is stirred. Then man goes to his eternal home and mourners go about the streets.”(Ecc 12:1-5)
If God created this earth and has protected it through out generations, what will change his mind now? I believe that there is a greater change that we go through the normal process of life and death than seeing planet earth destroyed because of a meteor or something else.
